TACTSIM

This review will focus on the new shooting simulator TACTSIM, which was released to the public in 2021. The brainchild of experienced Belgian police officer Devolder Jurgen, who is also a shooting instructor and violence control specialist, TACTSIM is designed to provide realistic and safe shooting training for military personnel, law enforcement officers, and private security personnel.

To date, the manufacturer has introduced two basic packages of the TACTSIM shooting simulator. The difference lies in the type of training weapon used. The basic package includes a modified replica of the legendary Glock 17 pistol, while the advanced package includes an exact replica of the SCAR-L assault rifle. Both packages also include a wireless VR headset, though the manufacturer does not specify which one. Accordingly, both sets of training weapons feature sensor units for attaching the VR headset's hand controller. It's worth noting that the training weapons feature trigger detection and full recoil. Furthermore, you can change the magazine after using a predetermined number of rounds, adding maximum realism to the training process.

Speaking of its operating principle, it's worth mentioning the key point: TACTSIM essentially allows you to transfer all your training weapon manipulations into a virtual, artificial environment with maximum precision. However, you can also conduct training in augmented reality, that is, augment your real visual field with virtual elements. An example will make things simpler.
